The tools an insurance agency actually chooses between.

There is no shortage of software an agency can buy. There is a shortage of software that knows what a policy is. Below is an honest map of where each category stops — including where we do.

The split that costs agencies two subscriptions

Nearly every tool an insurance agency evaluates sits on one side of a line, and the vendors themselves say so. Marketing and automation platforms describe their job as acquisition and engagement. Agency management systems describe theirs as policies, commissions, and compliance. Both descriptions are accurate. Neither is the whole job.

Acquisition and automation tools

GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Close, and the general-purpose CRMs. Genuinely good at pipelines, messaging automation, funnels, and reporting on a deal.

  • No concept of a carrier, a policy, or a comp grid
  • One pipeline per contact, not one per product line
  • Commission, persistency, chargebacks and carrier statements all live in a spreadsheet

Agency management systems

AgencyBloc, Radiusbob, Insureio, Applied Epic and similar. Built for the back office — policies, carriers, commissions, compliance, renewals.

  • Built to record business, not to go and win it
  • No autonomous outreach that opens and qualifies a new lead
  • Speed-to-lead is left entirely to whoever is at a desk

Which is why most growing agencies buy one of each — and glue them together with a person.

Virtual Closer was built across that line: an AI that opens and books new business at the front, and the carrier comp grids, override spread, payout schedules and persistency that decide whether it was worth writing at the back. Same system, same record.

As of August 2026 it reaches further across than it used to. Upload a carrier commission statement and every line is matched against what the comp model projected, so an underpayment is something you are shown rather than something you eventually notice. That is a job the acquisition tools have no concept of at all, and the one an agency management system is usually bought for. What still sits firmly on their side: policy servicing, renewals, group benefits, and licensing and appointment tracking — and there are no carrier data feeds here, so statements are files you export and upload rather than a connection that pulls them.

Individual comparisons

How we write these

  • Structural facts only. Whether a product models something — a carrier comp grid, a per-product pipeline, an override spread. Not whether it's good software. Most of these tools are good software.
  • No competitor pricing. Prices change and quoting one wrong is worse than not quoting it, so you won't find a rival's price on these pages. Ours is published in full, with no "request a quote" step — see what Virtual Closer costs.
  • A "choose them instead" section on every page, and we mean it. If your bottleneck is landing pages and broad marketing automation across several industries, a general-purpose platform is the better buy and we'll say so.
  • Dated. Every page carries the date its claims were checked. Software changes; a comparison without a date is a comparison you can't trust.
  • Tell us if we've got something wrong. support@virtualcloser.com — including if you work at one of these companies. We'll correct it.
