Importing leads

Upload a CSV, map the columns, pick the product, and confirm consent. The consent confirmation isn't a formality — importing people who never opted in is what gets your numbers filtered and your registration pulled.

Who this is for

Admins and anyone loading a purchased or exported list.

Before you begin

  • A CSV or Excel file with at minimum a name and phone number per row.
  • Certainty about consent — you'll be asked to confirm these people agreed to receive SMS.
  • The product these leads opted in for. It's required, and a campaign is tied to a product.

Steps

  1. Open the bulk import page and upload your file. Columns are auto-detected where possible; check the mapping rather than trusting it.
  2. Set the product intent. This is required and determines what the AI will talk to them about.
  3. Pick or create the campaign these leads belong to.
  4. Confirm the consent checkbox — only if it's true.
  5. Import, then spot-check a handful of created leads to confirm the fields landed where you expected.

Consent is not paperwork

You'll be blocked from importing until you confirm these leads consented to receive SMS. That gate exists because the consequences land on your whole operation, not on the individual lead: complaints and opt-outs damage the reputation of the numbers everyone sends from, and sending outside the terms your A2P campaign was approved on can get the registration pulled.

If you're importing a purchased list, know what the source's opt-in language actually said. 'They're in a lead file' is not consent.

Check the mapping

Column detection is a convenience, not an oracle. The fields worth checking every time are phone, state and any date column — a mis-mapped phone column produces a whole import of unreachable leads, and a mis-mapped state breaks local-presence dialling.

How to check it worked

  • Open three or four imported leads and confirm name, phone, state and product all landed correctly.
  • Confirm they're attributed to the campaign you intended.

Common mistakes

  • Trusting auto-detected column mapping without checking phone and state.
  • Confirming consent for a list where you don't actually know the opt-in language.
  • Importing before A2P is approved, then wondering why none of the texts arrive.
